I feel a little like a freshmen on their first day of highschool, ya know? I know I'm totally allowed to be reccing fics I don't think have gotten enough attention, but I still expect some bully senior to stomp up and clobber me for opening my mouth.
Anyway, I've always been a little disappointed with the amount of Batman Beyond ficcage out there, since it was undeniably my introduction to DC Fandom. It still holds a special place in my heart and the Egg episode will always make me smile, even when I have no more teeth. That being said, I usually don't really care to read something if it doesn't involve Terry. This time, I'm glad I decided to be a little more open minded.
Barbara and Maxine are by far the two most important supporting characters in the show, yet the barely get any attention at all, much less something thought out and well-considered. This fic is short, not even 2000 words, but it manages to have a conversation in the life of these two women without the slant of pairings or crossovers, instead focusing on what being a hero in Gotham means, particularly when you have to fight to be accepted.
